Walk Off the Earth is a Canadian group that gained viral notoriety from their amazing cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” performed with their five members playing on one guitar. Which at the moment has nearly 145,000,000 views on YouTube.

Indeed the band does outstanding covers of many artists. A couple weeks ago I featured them on the Snapshots and Needle Drops’ Facebook Page for their awesome version of Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

The danger with bands gaining popularity with covers is that they spend little to no time creating their own work. Fortunately this is not the case with Walk Off the Earth who are outstanding at playing with sound and creating strong material to stand on their own. Expect big things from them this year and I wouldn’t be surprised to find them in a festival lineup like Osheaga this summer.
