Padlocks of love on Paris Bridges

Locked: A Crash Course on Coldplay

July 11, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

The love locks of Paris. It seems like everyone has an opinion on Coldplay. Today, I asked a good friend what hers was. Mixed reviews it seems. My opinion? Let me say this about Coldplay, they are the only artist that I have gone out and bought every one of their albums. This is saying something as I currently have some 1,633 different artists on my itunes. The “too mainstream” argument, which is often used against Coldplay, is one I can’t […]

Canada Day Bonus

July 2, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

Kinda like how Canadians are getting an extra holiday today, even though Canada Day was yesterday, I’m posting a little bonus to follow up yesterday’s doodledrop. The photo is of Barrie, Ontario’s patriotic celebrations down by the bay, (where the watermelons grow…) What did you all get up to this July 1st? In my Canada Day post this year I noted a few popular Canadian artists. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention our latest international sensation, Carly Rae Jepsen. […]

Timbits, Canadian Tire Money and ‘Eh’ Bombs.

July 1, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!! Man, I love this country so much. This photo was taken about eight weeks ago on the top of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler, B.C. May skiing! How outrageous is that?! Even now you can go ski on the glacier through July. Blackcomb is a fierce mountain, take a look at the interactive map that compares the acreage to other ski resorts in North America. Anyway, people were in sundresses and shorts at the base while my friends […]

Rose Wine at Sunset

Vancouver Lovin’

May 26, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

One year ago (less two and a half weeks) I posted about Moon Balloon and how she was floating her way across the country to brighten up the skies of Vancouver. Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting her, for a second time, in her beloved new city. Three days ago it was her birthday. Happy Birthday Nams! The photo above was surreptitiously snapped of the table beside us during our beachside dinner by English Bay. Nams particularly […]

On Returning

May 16, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

Hey… hi there… how’s it goin’?… Remember me? It’s not the easiest thing to start posting again after eleven weeks. My online silence has been the result of offline chaos. There’s been a lot on my plate this spring, but I’m slowly but surely pulling everything together again and I hope to soon be back in a regular posting rhythm. My busy life has also left little time for music foraging. The stuff I have managed to listen to this season has […]

Blurry Vancouver Lights at night

It’s a Force Field

March 4, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

This song is slowly creeping its way into my favour. Anyone else unable to get it out of their heads? Tomorrow it will move to first place on my running playlist. This photo, taken from Granville Island after a seafood dinner with some of the greatest company one could ever ask for, is of light worms invading Vancouver. Watch out. “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris

Parisian Catacomb Skulls

Beast

February 24, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

Last November I finally made it down into the Paris catacombs! They’re one of the only ‘must-see’ sights that had been missing from my list of Parisan adventures. My good friend Kin and I ventured down the 130 steps of their spiral staircase to arrive, dizzy, under the cobblestones and cafés of La Ville-Lumière. We walked through the tunnel system, which was initially created for mining limestone. We walked along the passageways mentioned in Les Misérables, by chambers where 19th century Monachists had […]

Paris wooden door carving of Medusa

Something Evil This Way Comes

February 9, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

Doesn’t this Medusa, found on a Parisienne door, look like she could totally front a punk-rock band? This song was a part of my soundtrack to life when I was 18. I used to listen to it on my Swiss train rides home at night. Yeah, I was that punk in the corner listening to music loudly– but at least I had headphones! Kids today…. have you seen them? Just playing music openly to the maximum volume their little device […]

Potential: Part One

February 1, 2012 by snapshotsandneedledrops

“There are 500,000 people in the air right now.” Do you know what I love the most about airports? HSBC ads. Plastered all over gangways across the globe, HSBC has executed two very successful, thought-provoking airport campaigns over the last few years. There’s a lot of interesting material here, so I’m not going to use it all up in one post, but selfishly spin out their material over a few entries. The current campaign is all about the world’s potential. […]
